Shares of Intel (INTC) are falling Friday morning as the company posted its latest earnings report with lower-than-expected guidance for its 2024 outlook. Questions now arise around expectations for other tech giants and whether or not their earnings forecasts will be too ambitious. Annex Wealth Management Chief Economist and Strategist Brian Jacobsen joins Yahoo Finance to discuss the landscape for tech companies during earnings season and whether or not they can live up to the hype that surrounds the tech sector. Investors right now are looking for resilient profit growth for 2024 and beyond. I think that resilience theme is really important. What we oftentimes try to do, though, is not just look at what are profits, but the trend for them," Jacobsen says. "For that, you look at the Magnificent Seven — lot of these are real cash cows, but they could turn into a 'Messy Seven', instead, as we've already seen with Tesla (TSLA)..."
